The Gates Cambridge Scholarship
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is awarded to outstanding scholars who have leadership potential and a commitment to serve their communities. The scholarship covers the cost of study at the University of Cambridge. The successful applicant must find a program of graduate study at Cambridge which is suitable to his or her background and career goals.
To Apply
The final application date for the 2008 Gates Cambridge Scholarship has passed.
You do not need to submit a pre-application for the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Instead, you must apply directly to Cambridge University, using the GRADSAF application form (on the Gates Cambridge website – note the £25 online application fee). There is a place on this form where you indicate that you wish to be considered for a scholarship. Once candidates are admitted to Cambridge, the Gates Cambridge Trust reviews applications and selects finalists for interviews held in Annapolis, MD.
This scholarship is highly competitive. Although you are permitted to apply on your own, we recommend that any potential candidate meet early and often with Jill Deans at ONS regarding application content and procedure. Note that Rhodes and Marshall candidates are nominated the February prior to the October deadline and begin working on their applications immediately thereafter. Gates Cambridge candidates are advised to use the same timeline.
