The Harry S. Truman Scholarship
The Truman Scholarship is awarded to college juniors with exceptional leadership potential and commitment to a career in government, the nonprofit or advocacy sectors, education, or elsewhere in public service. The scholarship provides financial support for graduate study.

Frederick Slabach, Executive Secretary for the Truman foundation will be on hand to provide guidance and answer questions. The pre-application for nomination deadline for the Harry S. Truman competition is October 12, 2011. PLEASE NOTE: There has been some confusion about the deadline for recommendations. Recommendations are DUE October 12, 2011. However, an older date appeared elsewhere on our website. If you informed your recommenders of this older deadline, DON’T PANIC. We will contact your recommenders directly if they do not submit before our committee needs to review applications. Apologies for the confusion!

Our online application system does not allow you to begin, save and return to an application. You may clink on the link and preview the application at any time. Once you are familiar with the questions, be prepared to complete and submit the application in one sitting by having the following materials ready in advance:
- Unofficial UConn transcript & any grade reports from other institutions
- Contact information for recommenders
- 1-2 pp resume
- Polished & edited essays and well-crafted answers to questions (you may copy & paste)
