The
Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest
The Elie
Wiesel Foundation for Humanity was established by Elie Wiesel
and his wife, Marion, soon after he was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize
for Peace. The Foundation's mission, rooted in the memory of the
Holocaust, is to advance the cause of human rights by creating forums
for the discussion and resolution of urgent ethical issues.
The Foundation's international conferences and seminars bring together
leading scholars, artists, scientists, statesmen, young people and
thinkers from all over the world, for an exchange of ideas that
transcends political, cultural, religious, and academic boundaries.
The winners of our annual undergraduate essay contest receive the
Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics for their thought-provoking, personal
essays.
Through all its activities, the Foundation seeks to combat indifference,
intolerance and injustice.
You are eligible to compete in this essay contest if you are a
full-time junior or senior at UConn during the fall 2008 semester.
The contest submission is a 3,000 to 4,000 word essay on an ethical
issue. Please go to the Wiesel website (www.eliewieselfoundation.org)
for more information.
